Position:                Sales Team Leader

                           

Reports to:            Sales Manager

 

Basic Purpose:      As a District Manager, your basic purpose is to assist in developing a realistic sales and marketing objective plan, ensure reliable and efficient delivery of Chesapeake Beverage products and help control the cost of selling and delivery.  You accomplish those objectives through skillful management of your position and the management of those assigned under your supervision.

 

                              Within these two functions, managing your position and managing those assigned to you, you are accountable to management for the execution and completion of various tasks and activities which will make it possible for Chesapeake Beverage to achieve our objectives.

Education & Experience

 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of business to business sales experience required
  • Previous sales experience in the alcohol beverage industry is preferred
  • Minimum 2-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • In depth knowledge of alcohol three tier system preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve company business plan goals; including volume, distribution, and profitability
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to interface with various levels of management at both retail and wholesale
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent sales skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with limited amount of direction; ability to work both independently and within a team to accomplish goals

 

 

Required Tasks:

  • Assist in developing the wholesaler sales and delivery plan
  • Assist in developing incentive contests and other motivational tools designed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the wholesaler
  • Ensure that all sales and delivery plans are achieved within the budget
  • Ensure that sales and marketing objectives are achieved
  • Monitor merchandising and point of sales expenditures
  • Maintain accurate records and files
  • Maintain personal composure at all times in the warehouse, in the market and at all company social events
  • Assist with special events as requested
  • Keep assigned vehicle and work area neat, clean and safe at all times
  • Analyze account history and route books
  • Process all orders, reports and forms as required
  • Complete required reports in a timely manner
  • Work with Sales Manager on promotional forecasts as requested

 

Marketing Sales Department Personnel:

  • Train, develop and evaluate all assigned personnel
  • Discipline assigned employees as needed
  • Coordinate new account service
  • Execute and control authorized promotions
  • Coordinate delivery times, routing and special instructions with assigned personnel
  • Enforce all company and brewery policies to the fullest extent.        Report and fully document each infraction at time of incident
  • Work with community groups to maintain a positive presence
  • Visit on-premise accounts at night to monitor sales trends.  
  • Attend and conduct company and training meetings as requested
  • Give assigned merchandisers daily instructions and direction
  • Interview, hire and terminate employees as requested
  • Develop a training schedule for new hires, follow through and document as requested
  • Complete brand management documentation as requested
  • Ride assigned routes with Salesman and Route Assistants as requested
  • Develop working knowledge of shelf set programs and basic computer knowledge for sales department reporting
  • Plan and implement both on and off-premise promotions
  • Develop and foster a good relationship with all customers
  • Keep up proper maintenance of assigned company vehicle
